Getting Around Key West

Key West, Florida, is a fairly small island, and many of the places that you may need to get can be accessed by boat. If you have a boat, you can travel around the outside of the island and dock it. You can even travel from the mainland or from the surrounding area to get to the island. This is one of the most exciting ways to travel, but it may not be practical for everyone.

Since you only have to travel a few short miles no matter where you're going, this is a great way to get around. It may not be practical if you have a group of people who need to get around.

Taxi is another good way to get around the island. If you are coming from the nearest airport, taking a taxi is a common way to get to your house or rental. Some people who venture to Key West rent electric cars from the local electric car rental store. This is one of the more interesting ways to get around the island, and it is environment friendly. These are very small cars that look a little bit like nicer golf carts. You can rent an electric car for your entire stay and drive it all around the island. The downside to using one of these cars is that you have to find a place to park it when you go inside anywhere while you're out.
